Brother and SisterOctober 14th, 2009
Sorry we haven’t updated in a while;) We’ve been pretty busy getting to know our new addition! Seth is so wonderful! Such a happy, fun little guy and not to mention, such a cutie! Delaney and I call him “Bubby” and Delaney has picked up the new nickname of “Sissy”. Love it! So since being home we’ve all adjusted quickly, even Seth. He is sleeping through the night in his and Sissy’s room:) Delaney is loving being a big sister, we are so proud of her and how well she has taken to her brother. The 1st night that we got home we gave them a bath together and she instinctively started scrubbing him down and washing his hair, such a little mommy:) I loved being a mommy to one, and it is even more fun with two! I love that they will always have each other and I hope that they grow up to be best buds:) Here is a pic of Seth cuddling up with his big sissy! Too precious for words. God has blessed us beyond what we could have ever dreamed. Thank you Lord for our two precious gifts:) ![]() We’re Home!!!October 6th, 2009
Well first of all, Seth Keon Seok did awesome saying good bye to his foster mommy! It didn’t go at all like we expected. He seemed like a totally different baby, I’m sure all of your prayers had lots to do with that. He was wonderful, by the time we got on the plane he was all smiles! The whole ride home seemed like it took forever! It felt like the longest day of my life! Seth didn’t sleep much. We finally arrived home last night around 930, I started crying when we landed in Tampa, I was so happy to be done with planes! It was so nice to come home to a clean house! Plus we had tons of groceries:) And Delaney and Seth’s room was decorated and painted!! We have such awesome family and friends!! Thank you everybody for the awesome surprises!! We feel so loved:) Last night when we finally got in bed it was 12am, Delaney and I slept until 130 this afternoon, and Daddy and Seth slept until 230! We were so exhausted. We are loving being home and Seth is such an awesome little guy. He is adjusting well and is so happy and fun. He is very curious, he’s crawling around and exploring his new home. Visitors are welcome, just give us a call:) Love you all. Thank you for going through this awesome journey with us! Brent’s going to post some pictures soon! Our last 2 days in SeoulOctober 4th, 2009
Saturday was a great day for us. We got to ride the train into downtown Seoul. After that we found 2 playgrounds for Delaney to play on. She had a blast and was playing with another lil girl her age. After that we took a taxi over to Cheonggyecheon Stream, which runs right through the middle of downtown. After walking down that a bit we decided to head over to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the royal families residence during the Joseon dynasty. Brent was loving every minute of it and wanted to continue exploring but we had a 4:30 reservation at “Jump”, a martial arts comedy play. and man what a fun time we all had. Laney didn’t stop laughing and has been talking about it for 2 days now and asked at least 3 times today if we could go back. Brent got to participate in the show, 2 times! First he had to help an old man get up on stage and it was hilarious. Then later in the show they called him up on stage and he had to mimic what one of the performers was doing. They were about to duel when they did a weapon search on Brent and ended up finding an axe, some knives and a huge sword. It was so great, Brent was so funny. Wish i could have got the whole thing on camera. On Sunday we spent the whole day at Insadong a traditional cultural shopping district. Needless to say we spent a lot of money and got a lot of cool gifts for ourselves and others. We also got to paint mask, one for Seth and one for Delaney. And now we are packing and getting ready for the morning… We are prepared for an emotional time with the Foster Mom and Family and also for Seth being upset. We have an hour bus ride and then we are on the plane for 13hrs. We have a 5hr layover in New York and then we are on the plane home, as a family of FOUR!! We have had so much fun in Seoul. It was a bit confusing at first but after 2 days we got the hang of it. Our family is definitely not cut out for the city but we made the best of every situation, even when our taxi driver took us to the wrong Social Welfare building, and when we couldn’t find the Airport Bus stop, or when we ended up on the wrong side of town with thousands of homeless people all around us coughing and drinking…. even through all of that we have loved every minute of our time in Seoul and look forward to the day we get to come back with Seth. 2nd Meeting with our baby boy!October 2nd, 2009
We finally got to see little Seth again and it was a pretty hard visit. The foster mom left him alone with us and he was not happy about it. He cried pretty much the whole time. He let us hold him and love on him, but it was still very scary for him. It’s such a hard situation. We want to be his forever family but at the same time you feel so bad for taking him away from the only family he has ever known:( Monday is going to be an extremely emotional day for all of us. Hopefully he will feel how much we love him and will warm up to us quickly! He’ll have plenty of time to get to know us on our long flight home! We won’t be seeing Seth again until Monday morning(Sun. night for you) when we leave for the airport. Please continue to keep us in your prayers, especially Seth and his foster family. Sending lots of love and hugs your way! Hopefully we’ll be touring Seoul tomorrow! It is one of their biggest holidays, it’s like a Korean Thanksgiving, so hopefully some things will still be open! Enjoy the pics and video!! Relaxing day in SeoulOctober 2nd, 2009
We had a very nice relaxing day walking around Seoul. It was a beautiful day out and we are finally getting the hang of this.;) We started our day out at Holly’s Cafe with some coffee drinks and a yummy hot cocoa for Delaney! We walked the streets and looked at some shops. A couple of boys came up to us to ask us some questions for their homework. They were practicing their English, it was super fun! We saw a really weird big bear made of all little bears. And saw an adorable doggy shop with the cutest little dog who was even wearing make up! We got back to our room to clean up and get ready to go see Seth Keon Seok! The excitement was very overwhelming!! Stay tuned for video and pics of our 2nd meeting with our precious baby boy!!! Korea-3rd Day-Checking into EasternOctober 2nd, 2009
We took a bus ride over to Eastern and then a 30min. taxi ride, which should have only taken 5 minutes! The first 2 days were very confusing and time consuming for us. Everything we tried to do took forever!! We were happy to get settled in at Eastern. Our social worker said we have the best room at Eastern with an awesome view of the city! We had just enough time to set our luggage down and head to the Luncheon with the Director, Mrs. Kim. We got to meet and have lunch with two other adopting families and had our 1st taste of Korean food. Very different but yummy! We got to see one the families leave with their little boy, very emotional. Our social worker gave us a whole bag of stuff with his formula, bottles, a carrier, and some updated info on him! We got to learn a lot more about him, his favorite food(pumpkin), how many teeth he has(4top,3bottom), he is crawling and walks around while holding on to stuff. He has just recently developed a fear of strangers, uh-oh! He weighs about 23lbs, big boy! We are sooo looking forward to meeting with him again in about 3hrs! This time we get to spend an hour with him! The last visit was only 15min. Keep all of us in your prayers. Hopefully he is in a good mood and warms up to us:) We’ll post more pics and videos after we meet with him! Video of us holding Seth for the first time.September 30th, 2009
Here is a video of Christine holding Seth for the first time. and one of me holding him for the first time. He did much better with her ;). I think how beautiful she is, gave her an advantage and she doesn’t have a hairy, prickly face. We met him today!September 30th, 2009
What an exciting day! We got to meet our little Seth Keon Seok (pronounced Khan-Sock-Ahh, as you will hear us saying in the video!) We got over there this morning and still didn’t know if we were going to get to meet him yet, and then our Korean Social Worker informed us that he was already there waiting to meet us! It is sill all so unreal to us. We can’t even believe we got to touch and hold Seth today and whats even more amazing is that he gets to come home with us Monday morning! Enjoy the pics and the video(have to click on slideshow to play video)! We have another precious video of me holding him but we can’t get it off the video camera…we’re working on it though. Can’t wait to see him again! Miss you all!! Christine |
